Karas Extra Brut 750Ml

This producer established Karas in the West of the Armavir region of Armenia. Vintage 2010 was the first commercial release for Karas. Karas holds about 400 hectares of vines (Tierras has 2,300) at an average altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. The soil is mostly volcanic, with some pockets of clay. The ”Tierras” is on the back label, if you’re looking. More prominently displayed on the front is the brand ”Karas,” so look for that first. Under the name Karas, the name is also identified in Armenian letters. It refers to old vessels of wine. Armenia is in Southeastern Europe/Western Asia, the Caucasus. -Mark Squires, WA
