Origin:
Mencia coming from 62 acres of old vines 25 years old in Villafranca del Bierzo(north western Spain).
Elaboration:
Fermented at a controlled temperature atmosphere. Twentytwo-month ageing process in French and American oak barrels.
Tasting notes:
Pleasant balanced, medium body and perfectly integrated red showing a bigarreau cherry red colour. Bouquet of ripe fruit, fine wood and spices. Fresh, smooth and classical Mencia flavours.
Accompaniments:
Great food wine, ideal when paired with chicken dishes, grilled meats or pastas. To be served at 57 to 62 ºF.
Spicy, fully oaked black-fruit aromas are a bit edgy, while this Mencía feels crisp, smacking and racy. Blackberry and cassis flavors finish with firm tannins and lively acidity that lend balance to this full-bodied red. Drink through 2023. Wine Enthusiast 91pts
