The signature varietal that launched the Barra brand in 1997, this petite sirah features certified organic grapes that were hand picked from our 27 acre hillside vineyard, Bella Collina, located high above the Ukiah valley (1100 feet elevation) in Mendocino County. Following the advice of Karl Wente and Louis Martini in the early 60’s, Charlie Barra began planting the petite sirah varietal, and we continue to bottle limited quantities of this luscious, hearty wine.
Floral hints of lavender paired with hearty blackberry, earth, and tobacco on the nose. Complex, elegant and full-bodied on the palate, this wine delivers flavors of black plum, anise, and pomegranate with subtle hints of toasted caramel, raw cocoa, red beet, and wet stone. This wine has full sensual impact upon release and will only develop more character with 2+ years of age.
