Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling -Gg- Uralte Reben Trocken 750Ml

From a Moselle plot below the sundial comes Constantin's 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling –GG– "Uralte Reben" trocken. The vines were planted in the 1890s, and their fruit was macerated overnight last fall and then fermented to 100% in foudre. The wine sat on its lees for 12 months and did not see its first sulfur addition until bottling. This is the deepest, purest, most complex and fascinating bouquet of the dry MFR 2020 Rieslings because it pairs ripe and rich but precise and elegant Riesling fruit with the very fine soil flavors of the WSU. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, refined and well-balanced Riesling with intense and complex, salivating fruit and fine, lingering salinity. This is, again, a great dry Riesling from the Mosel at 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 4221 in November 2021. Wine Advocate
