E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc sets a high bar for the appellation and highlights one of the family’s best-kept secrets: their mastery of white Rhône varieties. While white wines make up only a small share of regional production, they account for a full quarter of Guigal’s output, making them the leading producer of white wines in the Rhône. This is a beautifully composed, textural blend that balances freshness and depth. It is both a perfect introduction to white Rhône and an exceptional value in any context.

VINEYARD
While most Côtes du Rhône Blancs are based on Grenache Blanc from the south, the Guigals flip the script and base this wine on Viognier. Since 1991, they have searched for and worked with growers to encourage new plantings for this wine. A variety that nearly died out in the mid-20th century, they believe it adds critical freshness and aromatics to this wine.
Blend %
60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 8% Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, 2% Grenache Blanc
TASTING NOTE
Freshness on the nose with the distinctive aromas of Viognier; white flowers, apricot, acacia and white peach. On the palate it is fruity with plenty of richness and body. A well-rounded wine with elegance, strength and balance.
WINEMAKING
Handled at low temperatures and then fermented 100% in stainless steel tanks. While the key to this wine is its play of freshness with the expressive, concentrated fruit, it has complexity that means it benefits from some aging and development. It aged 9 months after harvest in stainless steel before bottling.
